Engineering Foundations
Civil EngineeringMojgan began with a foundation in civil engineering, establishing the physical-infrastructure perspective that would remain central to her later work.
Mojgan Jadidi, PhD, MSc, P.Eng., is an engineering leader, researcher and educator whose career spans civil engineering, geomatics, geospatial technologies, digital infrastructure, immersive environments and emerging intelligent systems.
Her professional journey connects engineering practice, academic leadership and technology innovation—with a continuing focus on how spatial information and digital technologies can help us better understand and interact with the built environment.

Mojgan Jadidi is Chair of the Department of Civil Engineering and an Associate Professor at York University's Lassonde School of Engineering.
Her interdisciplinary background spans civil engineering, earthquake engineering and engineering seismology, geomatics, geospatial technologies, 3D spatial modeling, transportation systems, BIM/GIS integration, digital twins, immersive technologies and artificial intelligence.
Her career has moved across engineering practice, academic research, applied transportation technology, engineering education, research leadership and institutional leadership. Her current work explores the convergence of physical infrastructure, spatial information and increasingly intelligent digital systems.
Mojgan is also the Founder of MapEcho, a geospatial multi-agent copilot and digital twin system.
Mojgan began with a foundation in civil engineering, establishing the physical-infrastructure perspective that would remain central to her later work.
Her graduate studies expanded into earthquake engineering and engineering seismology, adding a deeper understanding of infrastructure, risk and complex physical systems.
Her academic path subsequently moved into geomatics and geospatial engineering, including doctoral research and work involving spatial information, modeling and visualization.
Research at Université Laval and later York University's GeoICT Lab expanded her work in 3D geospatial modeling, visualization and spatial technologies.
At Metrolinx, Mojgan worked within Applied Research & Corporate Monitoring, Planning & Policy.
Her York University career developed across faculty, curriculum and program leadership roles within engineering.
Her research increasingly connected BIM, 3D GIS, XR and digital twins with the built environment.
More recent work includes OpenAI and language-model applications, AI-enabled digital twins, multi-agent geospatial systems and spatial intelligence.
In 2026, Mojgan became Chair of the Department of Civil Engineering at York University's Lassonde School of Engineering.
